Bread Stick: My special gift for you!

When thinking about a gift that you can bake, many people will think about cake or cookie, well it's the basic thing.

But when you want to give a special gift for the people who don't like something sweet, what should you do. And this is my suggestion "Bread stick".
With a short list of the ingredients, it's not hard to make (esp. when you knead it with stand mixer), and it can be kept longer than soft bread. Anyway, because you roll it by hand it will come out ununiform, and it's the charm of handmade bread sticks. You can make it long or short, it depends on how you want it to be (or the size of your oven). If your oven is small, divide the bread in 3-4 parts and work one part at a time, so the dough won't too fluffy before going into the oven.
This bread is very additive, when you start eating one, you won't be able to stop! Adding the seeds or not is your choice, ^^, but they add lovely nutty note to this simple bread.

Bread Stick
Makes 30-35 pieces

375g .............................. Bread flour
10g ................................ Salt

Put the flour into a bowl and pour the instant yeast into the bowl, mix to combine.
Put salt into the bowl and mix to combine.
Pour milk into the bowl, and mix until the flour is fully moist.

  (non-hydrogenated rice barn oil shortening)

Put the shortening into the bowl.

Remove from the bowl and knead until smooth.

Or you can knead in a stand mixer for 5- 7 minutes.

Roll the dough into a ball.

 Oil a medium size bowl.

Put the dough into the bowl, cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Press the dough down, and let it rest for another 30 minutes.

When the dough is ready, remove from the bowl and cut it in half.

Work 1 half at a time.
Have ready 2 baking sheets.
Preheat an oven to 230C.

Roll the dough into 14x20 cm.

 Cut the dough.

 Roll into 20-25 cm.

 Roll in seeds, if using.

Place in the prepared baking sheets, and cover.
Let it rest for 10 minutes.

 Brush with oil before baking.
Put the baking sheet in the oven, and lower the temperature to 180C.

Bake for 15-25 minutes, (depend on the size of the bread sticks).
Let it cool and keep in air-tight container.
